Protea Wellbeing is proud to support the development of future counselling professionals. We recognise the important contribution that trainee counsellors make to increasing access to therapeutic support within communities.

We also understand that finding a high-quality placement can be challenging. Our placement programme aims to provide a supportive, ethical and enriching environment in which counselling students can develop their clinical skills and professional confidence.

Placement Opportunities

Placement opportunities may be available to students undertaking recognised counselling qualifications who require supervised client hours as part of their training. Applicants should demonstrate:

Expectations of Placement Counsellors

Placement counsellors are expected to:

Adhere to professional ethical frameworks.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
Attend regular supervision.
Engage in ongoing professional development.
Complete required administrative responsibilities.
Communicate effectively with the service.

Placement Application Process

If you are currently undertaking accredited counselling training and would like to complete your placement with Protea Wellbeing, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The Application Process

  1. Complete the Student Counsellor Placement Application Form.
  2. Applications are reviewed by our Founder and Director.
  3. Suitable applicants will be invited to discuss placement opportunities.
  4. Successful applicants will complete induction requirements before beginning placement.
