Answers to some of the questions we're most commonly asked about counselling with Protea Wellbeing.

Many clients continue counselling for as long as they feel it remains beneficial. Whilst some reviews may occur periodically, we recognise that meaningful therapeutic work often requires flexibility. Long-term support may therefore be available where appropriate.

Yes.

Everything discussed within counselling sessions is treated confidentially, except where there are safeguarding concerns, legal obligations, or significant risks to yourself or others. These limits will always be explained clearly.

Yes.

Protea Wellbeing offers:

  • Face-to-face counselling in Hutton.
  • Secure online counselling.

Where possible, we will accommodate your preferences.

The therapeutic relationship is extremely important.

If you feel unable to build a therapeutic relationship with your counsellor, we encourage you to discuss this openly. Alternative arrangements may be explored where appropriate.

Yes.

You will have the opportunity to indicate preferences regarding counsellor gender during the referral process. Whilst preferences cannot always be guaranteed, we will endeavour to accommodate them.

Payments are made via bank transfer only. Payment should be received either before or by the end of each counselling session. Further payment information will be provided by your counsellor.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances occasionally arise.

However, late cancellations and non-attendance impact both practitioners and other clients awaiting support. Where cancellations occur with insufficient notice, charges may apply in accordance with Protea Wellbeing’s Terms and Conditions.

No.

Children and young people are seen by practitioners who have undertaken additional specialist training in this area. Separate referral pathways apply for these services.
